I have spent the past six months building up my links pages, yet Google has failed to recognize the majority of them. Please let me know what I am doing wrong.

where is the link off the front page.. I can't find them either...
Ok, I found them on a post here that you tried to exchange links with someone.. they are not cached and when i went to the mail part of the directory .com/states it said FORBIDDEN!.. meaning you might want to make that part search engine friendly too. ![]()

Well I dont think you are doing anything glaringly wrong. The pages are not in frames or anything.
The only thing I can think of is to move your pages from states/alabama.html to alabama.html. I have heard that subdirectories are not helpful. The other thing is the number of links. Your links page has 113 links on it. http://www.anybrowser.com/cgi-bin/checklinks.pl. Thats quite a few. If you redo the links page to just have the 50 states google might pick it up faster. (http://www.escapesomewhere.com/realestate_partners.html) You might be doing this already but whenever you exchange links you can post the link page where you placed their link in this forum. Even with this Im still surprised you have not been cached yet. Anyone else see something I am missing?

hmmm, okay, what do i have to offer here...
1. I would change the name of the page and the link from "Link Partners". Make it something like Real Estate Resources or Real Estate Partners. Something like that. 2. I like the look of the directory, it seems fairly familiar to me. 3. In your directories i see a tonne of links that just have the address of the site as the anchor text and no real content on the pages. The best links are the ones with anchor text and a bit of a description. that adds content to the page. 4. I would make sure Link Partners is removed from every page of your site that has it on it and is changed to something more friendly. I don't have any proof that using the name links hurts anything, I remember ages ago it being rumoured that it did. We've never done that and we've never had problems though. 5. to get the pages cached you can also try getting some links to your internal links pages. 6. I couldn't find a site map. Maybe it's there and i can't find it, but if you don't have one, you should make one and it can help all pages getting cached. Hope this helps. Cheers Jason |

Thanks everyone for your insight. I have changed my "Link Partners" pages to all now read "Real Estate Partners". I am now working on a site map that will hopefully get google to notice all our pages.
How important is it to change my real estate links from ex: watkinsrealtygroup.com/states/california.htm to watkinsrealtygroup.com/california.htm? Thanks again, Gregg |

Partners is not a good word. Why would a visitor care if who you link to are your "partners" or not? They want to know if the links have something for THEM. Your link focus is on YOU. Start thinking about your visitors first.
Plus, you site plagiarizes some of my articles. Just one quick example... Quote from my original copyrighted article: If your kitchen cabinets, pantries, and drawers look jammed full, it sends a negative message to the buyer and does not promote an image of plentiful storage space. The best way to do that is to have as much "empty space" as possible. Quote from your page: If your kitchen cabinets, pantries, and drawers look jammed full, it sends a negative message to the buyer and does not promote an image of plentiful storage space. Create as much “open space” as possible. I really don't get it. Realtors don't work for free. I'm expected to give my work up for free? This is how I earn my living. I write and I get paid for it. This is theft.

Hey Greg,
Well first thing I would do if I was you is take all your pages out of the folders and put them in the top level of the domain.i.e. Wrong Way: http://www.watkinsrealtygroup.com/se..._topdollar.htm Right Way: http://www.watkinsrealtygroup.com/r_topdollar.htm Google tends to penalize a PR point per folder... Tip #2 I would take out the huge links that are 10 words long and instead of having them link all to your search page have them link to the appropiate page. Wrong Way: Central SD Coastal Coronado, Downtown San Diego, San Diego, La Jolla, Mission Beach, Ocean Beach, Pacific Beach, University City Right Way: Central SD Coastal Coronado, Downtown San Diego, San Diego, La Jolla, Mission Beach, Ocean Beach, Pacific Beach, University City And remember to make seperate OPTIMIZED pages for each keyword and DO NOT have them all got that same search page. Hope this helps! |
