Default Is anybody doing a diret mail newsletter?

I want to get in front of my sphere a bit more and I'm thinking about doing a printed direct mail newsletter. I'm thinking about a few articles that I would write and then maybe a few canned articles. Anybody using a service for their newsletter?

IMO, newlsetters should be "so area focused" to work properly they can't be canned. I did 1,700 mailers a month from 2000-2004 then 1,700 every 3 months from 2004-2006 then 1,700 every 6 months in 2008 and now none in my farm area except for the occasional mail-box stuffer. The business generated off this was HUGE but it was all area specific and not something they would get from anyone else as I wote them all front to back. People get so much junk in the mail and if you're using a company chances are so is someone else. So to truly see results I would suggest doing it yourself, at least the making of it then hand it off to be printed.

I did this too when I was selling real estate, it keeps your name first in their minds, so when someone they know says the words "I want to buy a home." your name pops up. Do this in addition to other stuff, like giving out key chains, etc.

Cost-Benefit Analysis?

Does it make financial sense for this in today's market?

My company is actually about to do our first direct mail campaign, we are a bit excited around the office and hope to get a few leads and some deals out of it since we are sending out 1000 postcards

1000? I actually delivered 1000 fliers to people in apartment buildings to advertise for a First Time Home Buyers Class.

I got 2 people after getting 1000 cards out to my target audience. The time, money, and effort were not worth it for me, since those 2 people that came didn't get pre-qualified or buy anything.

I think the "farm" marketing is a little old-school. 1000 cards may not be enough for the results you are hoping for.

Well actually I've compiled a list of people who have just recieved there NOD's and we plan to do a 1000 flyers (postcards) for the 1st month and we have a campaign that will be every month with the same theme just a different message.

and I dont mean to be rude, but the company I work for isn't that interested in first time buyers but rather homeowners in distress so we could market and sell there property
