Default Leave a Message?

When you call a New Lead from your website and get a voice mail, do you leave a message offering your service or don't leave a message and try calling back some other time? Lately I have been leaving messages but no call backs.

I've done both. I think leaving a message is sometimes better giving the lead/customer the option to call you back when it is convenient for them. It is also a good idea to leave a message stating that you will call back in a few days to follow up, leaving your email address as an alternative method of contact. That way, if the lead wished not to be re-contacted they can choose a less personal way of letting you know.

I leave a message the first time with my contact info and my website url so they can remember where they found me. On future calls, I don't leave a message but track the dates for my own purposes and keep calling until I get someone or give up.

Thanks Lou and Susan for your tips. Out of curiosity, have leads been calling you back? I'm thinking about not leaving a message and start having a system to call every other day or so until I get a hold of someone. But then if I don't get a hold of someone in a week, I will add the lead to my drip and stop calling.

Sometimes they call me back. Sometimes I don't get around to calling some of my leads and then I get a call from someone and they turn out to have signed in and given me a phone number. That makes me realize that I should be calling.

I do the same thing...leave a message the first time then try for a while and eventually, if still nothing, just add them to the drip.

I have done both as well, or I should say my Buyers agents have, although I believe that speaking with the people and not leaving a message works better because it is easy for people not to call back and then end up working with someone else that happens to catch them on the phone.

You need to try it out for yourself and see what works best in your neck of the woods.

I leave a message, so they know I've followed up immediately with them.

Ww have tried leaving messages and that does not seem to work at all. I will now be trying to call until they pick up or the phone is disconnected

Sometimes I leave a message and sometimes I don't on the first call.

Let's face it, with internet marketing, we all get leads that don't fit our preferred niche. With these, I typically leave a message and don't do much additional follow-up.

However, if the buyer is looking at listings in my preferred niche, I'll call them a few times before I leave a message. Once you leave a message, I don't feel its good business practice to call again. If they really wanted to talk to you, they would have called back.

I try to call all new leads within 10 minutes. Waiting any longer dramatically increases the chances of voicemail pickup. Plus, people are delighted to get the call right away. After 10 minutes they seem to forget about their inquiry and are more likely to be annoyed by the call.
