Hi I am wondering what everyone's thoughts are on a flash video where you walk out on the website and introduce yourself and welcome visitors to the website. Thanks in advance!

I think it would annoy many people and scare the crap out of those who are surfing at work. It not get them in trouble. Now having it only load if they choose to play it could be kind of cool.

IMO, it's as bad as having music on your site.

When you go to a realtor website, do you want to find/look for property or listen to some agent give some canned talk? Those that I know that tried it, have removed it. I guess even they found it to be annoying.

I actually got some feedback from someone that said it was kind of intrusive to have it on there unsolicited. I thought it may have just have been competition saying that in order to get me to remove it. A bunch of people are starting to follow my lead in my area. I have it removed for now to see if there is any difference.

I've done several and I think it connects to the viewer a lot faster then having them read content. I just recently started playing around with video on this site: http://www.walkawayprogram.com/

I didn't design the site, but i did shoot the video on a crappy camcorder and displayed it using a custom made flash player. It still needs a lot of tweaking around and obviously a better camcorder.... and a more attractive model lol.. that is my boss talking.

After just viewing that video again, this setup is probably the only instance to when a viewer would get annoyed by a flash video. lmao

LOL. I had some success from mine and it WAS REALLY intrusive as compared to yours. I am thinking about putting it up again because I don't seem to have the same results without it.

I've never liked them.. but then again, I've never gone to a real estate agent's website with intent on buying a home or using their services.. so it may be different for potential clients.

I've been thinking about adding the walk on agent to my site also, but warn the website visitor first and give them incentive to check out the walk on video by telling them "Click here for special offer"

Let them know that they will see a person walk out on the screen and deliver the special offer message only.

I have learned how to do the green screen effect myself and I have a practice page set up on my site.

I am currently getting opinions from past clients to see if it would annoy them or not. If you want to check out the video it is right here. I am the Virtual Web Agent. I have a no follow for the whole page, I do not want google to index it.

This is just a practice video and I was reading from an online teleprompter on my laptop so the acting is poor and I did not have the script moving fast enough. The video keying was a rush job and I did not shoot it in HD yet, but plan on it after I have finished doing my survey.
