Default using snippets to create html templates

trying to create a template with html and the system is stripping certain html tags, Aaron has taught me to use snippets in the past to get around this but when I put a snippet in the body of my template and send an e-mail, the snippet variable doesn't seem to get parsed right

snippet name: template_1

calling it with #template_1#

the body of my e-mail just shows: #template_1#

how do I get around this?

this is on ietrealestate.com

Thanks

fyi, just discovered some very useful info for creating html e-mails

#1, when you upload pix into the CMS backend, the system appends a '_xxx' to the file name. i.e.- logo.gif becomes logo_123.gif

1 way to not have to deal with this is to host your images in one of the many free picture hosting sites out there (i.e.- flickr, picassa, photobucket etc.,etc.)

and make sure to use absolute path names to your pictures (wherever they are hosted) relative won't work since users will be reading e-mail from different servers

I'd really like to be able to use the

#featured-listings#

snippet in some templates I'm creating to send out HTML e-mails with, can anyone explain if this is possible and if not if it would be possible with a work order (how much etc.)

Thanks,

Hi Ben,

It's not really possible to include that snippet in an email template. The design team could likely create you a page that you could include in the template to send out. The one issue with sending HTML in an email is that it doesn't work exactly like a webpage. You have to use the simplest HTML possible to ensure that it will display in all the email clients. Best bet would be to request for a design estate in the work orders forum - or contact sales.

Thank you,

I would like to have my auto emails have a better appearance and ahve talked to a graphic designer about creating a template for me. Did I understand that HTML is not a good way to go. She has come up with some great looking options and I just need to know if I need to get her to follow through with it. Please advise!

HTML is the way to go ... Just was saying that if you were to design an HTML page for display on a website - then tried to use that same HTML to send out in an Email - it might not work. So it's best to stick to simple HTML when creating email templates.

Post a work order or contact sales with an outline of what you'd like us to do.

Thank you,

BTW, I'm using HTML templates that I created myself and just had REW integrate and I'm extremely happy with how they turned out
