This site has one backlink (with no PR). It is a site that I put up just to get it indexed in google a couple of months back (which appears to have since been deindexed). I haven't put any effort into BL's for this site, there is practically no content, and some of the links are dead. I just find it funny that my other site with several thousand BL's has the same PR. I know that PR is not really as meaningful as it used to be but this goes against everything I have learned about how PR is transferred. Is this a fluke? |

perhaps at the time of indexing it had a higher PR link to it, or a link you dont know about, but if it is no longer in the index, the next PR update should flush it out.

Hardly a fluke. It happens frequently. Check this site http://www.youratlantarealestate.com/. You can see what the owner wrote about it here: http://www.realestateforum.com/showt...p?t=899&page=3 Post #27 This is one of the behaviors that I have been studying for several months and as I said above it happens frequently. The PR does not get flushed out on subsequent PR updates? Why a PR3? I have some ideas that I am still working on, but one thing I am certain of, it is NOT backlinks. Now if you really want to know the truth about PR go here. Thanks to HHI Golf Guy for the link. secret to Google PR and rankings! Last edited by frobn; 08-17-2005 at 02:13 PM. |

Frobn, What is the point you are trying to make with the example of the Atlanta site?

I would be interested in hearing what you come up with. I would almost guarantee that the only link that has ever pointed to that was from one of my own sites. But I can see that your atlanta site is in a somewhat similar situation.

I have a domain the I purchased for a friend and put 5-6 links to the site that was basically a plain page with contact information.
PR update happens and suddenly the site became a one page pr 5 site ![]() don't figure. Reminds me I need to put something there again. My hosting service was down for 2 days and has taken me the better part of 3 days total to get most everything back.

I don't see any mystery as to why the Atlanta site has a PR3. If you check the backlinks in Yahoo (which is a better way to check backlinks than Google) the site has over 2500 links. An easy PR3.
