Default lec control panel

Seems like the best place to put this.

My lec has only been live a little over a week, but so far I haven't been able to work this issue out. Ideally, I'd like the visitors to use the control panel messaging feature. Seems like an easy way to keep your conversations organized and bond them to the website.

So far, they just aren't using it.

Is anyone having success with the control panel?

Are visitors using the message feature to communicate with you?

Any good emails or tactics you've been using that help drive the visitors to use the control panel?

Use YOUR CP messaging system to alert them it's existence - they won't find it, you need to show it to them. Kind of like the PM system here, few folks would automatically know it was here (at the forums that is) but because we send an autoPM when they register, they are instantly familiarized with that facet of the technology.

Good idea, that's pretty much what I've been doing so far. I've sent several messages so far with no response. BUT, I'm dealing with a small amount of traffic compared to many others here. What may take me a month to figure out, a higher traffic site might have learned in a day. Hoping to cut down on the learning curve a bit.

If you send a message using the CP, try also sending an email with a link to the CP to start training your returning visitors.

Also, make sure you blog about it, A lot.

I've not had much success getting leads to use the CP, but I keep trying none the less.
