I'm getting multiple comments with similar language or short sentences. Bad grammar as well. Makes me think that webmasters are paying people in other countries to sit and post comment after comment.

Yeah, I love those.

They've been hitting this forum pretty hard lately as well.

I had several unusual subscribers to my wp blog the other day. All similar names and email addressess. They didn't leave any comments, which concerned me a bit.

Yup, me too. Paying for commentors on the surface seems like an easy way to get backlinks, however, the comments are easily detected as fake. A sure way to get placed in Akismet's spam filter.

not a good way to build honest relationships. Besides, the backlinks are only pennies compared to some serious page rank sites...why bother?

It's highly possible.. If you check some freelance sites, there are actually a cumber of webmasters and new bloggers asking paid commenting services...

Just don't let commenters use keywords..

Says the guy with sig links to "build your own solar panels" in broken english.

I've been getting a lot that seem to be focused on getting the attention of the moderator. For example; giving me a new joke on a daily basis. No comment other than a joke, which are sometimes funny.

It is true, i am also notice that but it is a business.

Comment spam - just make sure there is no HTM language as they may be trying to build back links or trick your readers.
