contact AA ask them to write an exception rule for your page, alternatively you could ask someone else to post your sitemap on thier site for spidering (Would have to be a good buddy though

, but doesn't google require your site map to be on your URL? I sent already submitted the site map and google is scanning it, but when I uploaded the file the link to it something like FileLibrary.MYAASite.Com/Content/1154256 google will only count pages off of the same URL. and because all my pages are off of my domain http://www.socalmarket.com google wont count them. wouldn't that be the same if someone else hosted the site map for me?Last edited by SoCal Homes Team; 09-16-2005 at 04:37 PM. |

yeah I suppose, but if you use the xml creator at least you can get a sitemap of your site, and then just host it via ftp, it wont be the same, but if AA wont let you post it, and you want a sitemap of this type its an option.
Of course you wouldnt need to use the google sitemap for this, you could use any sitemap generator.

Here is some AA bashing, why would any one want to use them again if you can not post a simple site map? OK Ken, free for all brawl here
. Thank you Morgan for helping me choose the right path. |

Also you can have a site map with AA, just wasn't designed for the G sitemap. All URL's with AA sites are crap and end up looking like this: http://www.suburbanhousehunters.com/PageManager/default.aspx/PageID=873588&NF=1 I've had a good month and a half (2.1 million personally produced) so I might be able to get Morgan to do some work for me even with the baby coming. Really would have to figure out how to make the links I have coming into internal pages still be of value. Think a 301 would do the trick, but not sure if you loose the PR and anchor text you would have gotten....Anyone know for sure???

You can certainly keep the filenames via mod rewrite no matter where you go (How many pages are we talking about?) That way there would be no need for a 301 it would be a simple case of xfering data and then changing the dns - same filenames, new site - then for future files etc you could create proper URL's
An alternative of course is to create a 301 matrix in your .htaccess so you 301 each ugly URL individually to its new location. Would work just fine - would be a very temporary drop in rankings but then you would be much better off in the end - Of course for your deep links I would still suggest contacting your parnters and getting them to change it - the linking team can do that for you to.

G Shows about 300 pages in my site. There are only a few internal pages that have links to them, but those ones have a good amount of links going to them so it will be a little work to get them switched.
I would want to use the 301 route as one big reason I would switch is for clean urls. It just bugs me how long they are now. Does a 301 pass PR and the value of the anchor text? "Would work just fine - would be a very temporary drop in rankings but then you would be much better off in the end" It would be interesting to see if the change would help or hurt my rankings. This is the one thing that scares the crap out of me. I am in the top 5 for a lot of terms and would hate to loose that. At the same time if the switch would help me then I would be looking at a lot of #1 positions and that would be great. To bad there isn't anyway to gaurantee the results with something like this.

google will only take links from your site map that are on the same level as the site map itself. so pages like socalmarket.com/homes will not be indexed because its not on the same directory. So the only links that would be indexed would have to be after socalmarket.com/navcontent/page/ Last edited by SoCal Homes Team; 09-30-2005 at 05:47 PM. |
