I am in the process of beefing up my city pages for my real estate website. Since I am new at this, I am wondering if I have overused the images and /or keywords on this page. Can someone tell me if they think this is too much? These pages never show up on searches in google.

Donna, I checked your page through Copyscape & it seems you and others are using the same stuff. Unless you're the originator of this content then this is referred to as content theft. It also causes duplicate content which can be penalized by the search engines, causing these pages to be de-indexed.
You need to use your own content and your own photos, unless you've paid for or received permission from the original writers or photographers. Certain statistics and info are public knowledge and can be included in your pages without permission, but it looks like you and others have really copied and pasted a lot of information. I love looking at photos, especially in areas that look nice, like Florida. I've mentioned this before, I really don't like Illinois. I'd much rather be in AZ or CA. I never thought of IL looking very beautiful. I've never enjoyed taking photos. But a member of this forum, Salt River Media, convinced me to start taking some. When I showed my daughter my new web site (Cook County) with the photo slideshow, she asked why were tropical pictures on an Illinois site? I laughed & told her I took those pictures only 10 minutes away!

Judy - thank you again for your comments. I did use some "Chamber" stuff and also some city sites but not anything from another realtor or someone trying to sell anything so I assumed that would be okay. I guess not. Thank you for telling me about Copyscape. I have a lot of work to do but I will get that cleaned up.
So, you don't think I used too many pictures? |

I don't personally think you used too many pictures. I believe they give people a visual sense of what you're trying to tell them. It also breaks up large pages. When I get into too large a page I try to create more pages & use links to those pages. It's better clicking links to other pages within the site than having to scroll and scroll on one page.

Personally, I would have made multiple pages for the different sections. You also need <alt> tags for the images (keywords).

Are you saying to put my keywords on the alt tags for all the pictures? I thought I read somewhere that that was a big no no as far as the search engines are concerned. I don't want to do anything that looks like a trick. Did I misread something?

You don't want to "stuff" keywords into your alt tag. Here's what I do, I try to convey what the picture is & if I can get a kw in there I do. Let's take a photo of the Chicago skyline. I would put Chicago skyline as the alt tag. Chicago is one of my kw's on several of my Cook County site pages.
I use free graphics (I give them a link) for my state recip pages (on my Cook County site, which I'm still transferring over to my new REW template & am fixing photos & stuff so if you check it out I'm working on it). I put alt tags in them saying, "state name map, then give the state's description which is shown on the graphic followed by "blank" is the capital as that is also shown on the graphic. So I got the state name in there, which is a kw for the page. So you can certainly use kw's if they make sense to the page the photo is on.
