i've been thinking of advertising with local sites, such as our local news, and our local news papers. now, the cost of advertising on the news site is $250 (all around, homepage or not) and the price of advertising on the local papers sites (thiers 2 i want to advertise on) is around 150-250 (depending on location) for a grand total of $550-$750/month in advertising ($6600-9000/year). thats not horrible, but to the broker its not really worth it (as of yet). i dont want to persue this if its not really worth it. does anyone have any ideas? is it worth it?

I'm just taking a guess. This is pure Internet advertising, right? Not the local "paper." The reason I ask is that I was involved with a home magazine that also had an automatic entry into their Internet ads. I got more interest from the internet ads than print.

However, that is a lot of money to advertise on someone else's web site, IMO. I'm wondering if ppc would bring you a better return. Maybe someone else can chime in with their thoughts.

I have a customer who has had a banner ad on a local newspaper's real estate section. She has received quite a few hits and has been pleased. Plus it's a one way link to your site from [probably] what would be considered an authority site, if it's a popular newpaper site.

forgot to add, it is internet advertising, as we already advertise in the paper and magazines.

Judy, they could not only invest in PPC but that money would go a long way towards an organic seo compaign that would most likely result in a top ranked site for many search terms related to thier target market! We've been working with a client since January who hasn't spent that much and has been first page of Google for 5 months and is currently #3 in a very competative market.
