Default drop down menus

Any other advantages to using drop down menus other than having a cleaner more functionable site? Disadvantages? I'm buliding a site and weighing weather or not to use drop downs.

Default Re: drop down menus

In my opinion drop downs are great for software programs that someone uses frequently and becomes farmiliar with, however a website visit is more often than not a new experience for first time visitors. If they need to drop down your menus to find all that is on your site they might just as easily use the back button on their browser and find a site with easier (read clearer) navigation.
