Default An end to the MLS as we know it?

If your company has a database of things (whether that be products or pictures or weblog posts or news articles or whatever) that it represents on the web, then Google Base suggests that you should not wait to be spidered and nor should you expect them to do all the heavy-lifting to work out what your site is about. Instead, you just bulk upload all your data to Google directly and associate each entry with your corresponding page on the web. Google get an enormous amount of new useful data to organise and present to people, while the businesses or start-ups that use the service get new interfaces created for their content, and a greater findability and navigability for their data, products and services. And when Google creates an API for the service, suddenly every data source that uses them has an API as well.

How about listing your properties with Google for video feeds.

Cringely Sees Google Trucking Along

Google has been toiling away at its Video project. A touchstone of Google development is make the cool product first, make money off of it later. Imagine if AdWords and AdSense could deliver video ads, and promise advertisers a certain level of reliability and delivery.

Thank you for the links. I was just writing about uploading the MLS service area to base.google.com

With Google Base fully in place (and ultimately similar services from Yahoo, Microsoft, and Amazon), why in world would anyone pay to have their listings displayed or pay to have to access to a database of listings?

This will benefit listing agents bringing customers directly to them and take away business from buyer's agents that depend on MLS feeds and MLS searches to produce business and leads.

I guess it depends on how each Board of Realtors handles their property data. The Sarasota Board of Realtors is extremely protective of their data and they aren't going to hand it over to Google. I could only see Google eliminating the need for a local MLS if every single Realtor made an effort to upload their listing information to Google. If that does not happen then you will have a database that only represents a small part of what is on the market. I don't see a database like that being very popular to the consumer.

It is so easy for the consumer to see what is on the market. Just about every single Realtor website now has IDX or VOW access.
