Default IDX Coding

Hello, first time poster here. I just found your site. Good stuff, and thought I'd contribute what I can.

I'm in Arizona, and I have someone that would like me to integrate an IDX AZ MLS database into their website, I'm not the best at it, but willing to give it a shot. I have a few questions I thought some of you could answer.

I understand having to log in through FTP and download the DB. But...

Are these DB's Mysql or another type?

Is implementing just going to be adding dynamic tags to grab from the DB?

Is there a good way to automatically grab the DB through FTP and uplaod to my own site server? or is that just going to be a cron job?

Sorry for all the questions, but it's hard to find this type of info around the web. Again, Thanks

I maybe wrong, but as an individual you cannot download ARMLS database. However, your client can get feed. Here are the instructions, for doing this.

In order to have access to the IDX site, an agent or broker must have a valid
active Agent ID, a valid website address (URL) and have their real estate license
hung with a broker that has not opted out of the IDX program.
To frame the ARMLS-IDX website, complete the following:
1. Verify the URL. The agent or broker must enter their website address into the
TEMPO system (Log on to TEMPO. Click Member Tools – Roster – Edit My Roster
Entry). This address must be a valid URL in a standard format similar to these
examples: www.myrealty.com , www.maryclark.com, etc.
2. Build a Frameset. Use the following to code the source URL for the frame
responsible for holding the IDX website. Replace XX123 (below) with the 5
character alphanumeric Agent ID assigned to the agent framing the site.
<frame src=”http://armlsidx.vstone.com/?agentid=XX123” width=”510”>
Note that the width attribute is set to 510. This is the minimum the IDX website can
be presented in without the horizontal scroll bar showing. The IDX website will grow
to any size greater than 510px.
3. Wait for the next IDX update. It may take up to 36 hours from the time your
website URL entered into TEMPO before for the IDX site is able to authenticate your
access.
4. Testing & Trouble-Shooting. After you follow the simple steps outlined above and
after waiting 36 hours for your website address (URL) to be updated, you should see
the IDX search and presentation functionality within your website. If you do not,
carefully repeat all steps outlined in this document. If, after following these steps
carefully, you are still unable to access the site, please contact Success Web Systems
via email at the following address (ts@successwebsystems.com).

Lets see what other members have to say.

Thanks Arizona Home. Framing isn't the problem. The Broker wants a more customized look to add their agents next to each listing(like Yahoo>Real Estate) or randmize them on searches. He has filled out and sent in the Broker aggreement. Basically they are waiting on the FTP log in info to grab that DB.

I have read/printed all of the pdf files they have on the ARMLS site. I'm just curious as to how the database is formatted.

Very good explaination of the process to get Arizona Regional Multiple Listings (MLS) on your site.

I added it about a year and a half ago and it has worked great for me. Visit my website to see it in action, here is a way to view mine... Search for homes for sale in Phoenix, Scottsdale and more.

Also, if you do visit my site, please take a look at my Real Estate Agent Directory to give me some feedback if you have any.

Thanks.
