How much a like can two sites be before google considers them a mirror site and drops you?

Mirror sites are typically identicle and on the same class C IP block, however the sites don't have to be mirror for you to be dropped as you unfortunately found out. I would honestly petition Google with as many members as you can to ban that bastard and personally would find out who he is and where he lives. If you sponsor me, I'll fly down there and kick his ASS! That sort of stuff is really low IMO How many members here have been dropped in place of a spam redirect site in the last few weeks? Show of hands please?

Not me, but I do have a question. Can you throw some more details about "Class C IP block"? How unique do IP addresses need to be in order to be considered different?

First 3 octets
e.g 123.123.123.0 is the same IP as 123.123.123.789 321.321.321.x is a different IP |

Of course it should be pointed out that 321.321.321.x is not a valid IP address.

While the IP address numbers vary, they all point to the same owner since they are within the same Block. The danger of this is that although you may have multiple clients, if they are all hosted within the same Class C Block it can be misinterpreted by an SE as spam if they are cross linked. Having identical or similar content within the same Class C Block is a definite NoNo. Changing the domain name won’t hide it. -Mack Last edited by VegasMack; 08-15-2004 at 08:34 PM. |

ok, so what about a shared IP? I mean, I host about 20-25 sites on a shared IP or virtual IP.
Should I take my main RE site an place it on a different ip to try and help out the "I'm really not spamming cause" ![]()

I know some people claim that a shared IP doesn't make a difference, but I'm from the old school in SEO and have always made sure to get a host that allows me to have a unique IP for each domain. "Old school" meaning that I've personally seen entire block C's banned due to one bad apple (a spamming webmaster with an IP in the same block C).
As for mirrors, I think it best to avoid them anyway, shared IP or not.
