Our house is up on the market listed with a realtor. We listed it at the end of Oct. There are 2 other house in our subdivision for sale as well. 1 is 2 doors down same model and the other one (same model as well) is around the corner and is under contract. The funny thing is, this model never goes up on the market and all of sudden, our house and the 1 two doors down went up on the market the same day. The 3rd one went up a few days later. Today, my daughter brought to my attention that the house across the street on the side of us had a for sale sign, but it was laying down. I asked her what it looked like and she said it looked like the same one that we had. Well, I decided to look out the front and ours was gone. Someone deliberately yanked it out and carried it across the street and threw it in our neighbors yard. We live in a prestigious gated community so we don't live where anyone can just drive up and do it for the hell of it. The house 2 doors down sign is still standing. The more I think about it, it could be competition. Is there other reasons why this would be done? Thanks to any one that can answer this post..

Sounds like a kids prank to me. I doubt it has anything to do with you. If the kid had been walking by the other for sale sign that one would have been pulled out. Are there many kids in the neighborhood?

Oh my, what a lame thing for someone to do. Atleast they didnt destroy the sign. That would have been terrible. Sounds like teenagers to me, when i was in highschool, i have a vague memory of someone i know doing that, although im not sure if they were just saying they wanted to, or actually doing it. Either way, it is something that some of em do....lol...

First of all, thanks again for replying to my post.. I just spoke to the realtor and she said that the sign guy said that this has been happening a lot lately. This is all over... What is up with that? He works for different realty companies, so its not directed at one company. Well, have a nice one.

Sounds like agents. Happens all the time here. Signs and pointers for lots out in the middle of nowhere go missing in a week. There's not a home or kid for miles, but of course there's always a competing agent's sign within walking distance. >>maturity Then an agent singles out another agent and abducts all of her signs and it becomes a vicious childish cycle. Now I take a ladder and hang them high in a tree whether it's a lot or home. For a home, I put a backup sign in an interior window if possible. |

I'm sorry to hear about the situation in your area but I don't think that is indicative of most agents. I can't remember hearing a story like that up here in Minneapolis.

I had a sign stolen from a listing before, actually it was my first listing. It pissed me off to say the least as they aren't cheap and it was the first time I had used it. I have heard from many other agents about the same thing happening. Kids do some stupid things and that is most likely who did it.
