I am interested in getting a new custom website with IDX integrated on the site. I have talked to my MLS data provider and they said they charge $650 a year for a FTP data feed. Does that sound right or should I be able to get the feed automatically because I am am a MLS/Board member.
After i get the data feed, what does my developer need to do? The feed is in comma, delimited form according to my MLS provider. Any help would be appreciated? Thanks |

What area are you in? A great Real Estate Webmasters site with IDX behind it would be my first choice if I were new to the website world. Better to start out right the first time. There are custom IDX solutions, so let us know what area you are working in.

Some boards have the feed for free, others have thier feeds handled and distributed by third parties such as rapatoni, if this is the case they generally charge a processing fee - the one you mentioned seems very high, I would assume you are in a high dollar market.
Writing the script to parse the data into the database is pretty easy, after that your developer needs to create the search functionality, layouts for the listings and details pages etc. http://www.northcountyluxuryhomes.co...county-mls.php is one we just finished.

Thanks for the replies. i am in Cedar Falls, Ia. The area has a population of about 130,000, so not too vig, but the real estate market is strong. Our board uses Ultrex which is made by a company from Rochester, MN called Technology Concepts.
