No, they are helpful to the sites they link to. There are thousands of sites with these hidden links on them all real estate websites and they are pointing to other real estate sites. I reported it to yahoo spam.

Hidden text is never condoned but I also don't view it as spam. I just think it's a really stupid move by whoever did it.

I can understand that -- hidden text for the purpose of adding targeted keywords and phrases to achieve a better SERP is SE spam.

But, unless the the <a href> tags have companion anchor text, which in this case they don't, then in my opinion this situation is not spam, it's just well, plain silly.
