IF MSN is smart, they could start stealing some people from Google..
or perhaps Yahoo merging with MSN. I believe Yahoo is ok with being a content provider ( I think they are number one with this) shame on me for not knowing as a stockholder ..lol but to give up now is just plain simply not a good idea -> might be a sign of poor management somewhere in between the ranks, low work morale or both, or something else. it's like having an agent say " hey I rank number 50 in google for my keywords and I'm cool with that" ...it's just not right ! ![]()

Chief Financial Officer Susan Decker said in an interview. "It's not our goal to be No. 1 in Internet search. We would be very happy to maintain our market share."
Hmmm, from the mouth of a CFO, not the CEO and not the BOD. Spoken like a true bean counter, not a visionary. After all, what public corporation 'suits' say for public consumption is not always the straight skinny. I wouldn't be surprised to see Yahoo make a play for increased search content, in light of the increasing bad press (Justice Dept., China, click-fraud) that the giant seems to be getting.

Yahoo will change it's stand on this issue soon. Google VS MSN is going to be a fun thing to watch especially after Windows Vista and IE7 are released.

CFO are good for info if your investing. They know where $ coming from and where $ going. Beyond that, they might not be in on the latest brainstorming session. The vision they come up with make an Emron out of you. I would not want my CFO making coments like this. If you can't say anything good don't say anything. They announced their numbers, gave dividends and their stock took a dive. Did he do that?

Yahoo never gave us the quality leads that Google or MSN did and even when we ranked well on Y, the volume was not that great. My own observation of friends and family is that the ones that used Y were the younger kids and the less tech savvy seniors, neither of which were providing us any leads. Don't get me wrong, we have had fine leads from seniors looking for retirement homes, they just did not come through Y and of course the kids were not searching for homes.
Google always brought us the best quality leads (ones willing to share information via e-mail). However, there has been a noticeable increase in our MSN traffic volume and quality over the past few months. I'm with Breckinridge, waiting for Windows Vista and IE7. Bill Gates has never started in the lead, he just finishes there. And I bet he would have a stroke if his CFO made such a statement for any MS product whether it was in first or last place in the market or even for a discontinued product. P.S. I think www.msn.com needs a front page like the old beta, instead of getting the over busy portal look that has so much on it that visitors get sidetraked from their search thoughts. The beta page was more like the google page which I like, it has one function - Search! Perhaps this will change as MS adopts their version of adsense.

I've noticed the same facts for Yahoo. Even good position in it for the keywords you need doesn't give you appropriate visitors. How do you think, why does yahoo has got such audience? |
