Got a question for those of you who use adsense on your sites.

I was thinking of placing it on pages that most consumers would not see or selectively using it on pages with limited content. For instance the Resources pages or the accommodiations pages, similar to what this real estate directory does on the state pages.

Do I need to get specific accounts with the url that the ad will be placed on to get it targeted.

ie if I put an adsense ad on an idaho state page I would want only Idaho agents showing up there...

After a period of time, google will sense the presence of 'idaho real estate' and display ads accordingly

No, you don't need a separate commission code, but might want to establish a unique channel

I've experienced a week to ten days for google to establish consistency in presenting on-topic ads for a page that has a liberal sprinkling of keyword content.

Bob,
Adsense is so straight forward, you will have no problem at all.

If you don't go the channel route, you will have one script (similar to a statcounter script) to place on any of your pages. Adsense will display public service announcements until the bots sense what the page is about. Then the ad's will adjust to be specific to the particular pages content. It takes a few days to start seeing the ad's become fine tuned. Some pages ad's will seem more relevant, but this could be due to more persons paying for particular keywords that are on some pages and a lack of payers for terms on other pages.

Overall, it is essentially a no effort situation other than placing the script. I put adsense all over my www.gulfshoreslife.com site and if you will go to the fishing, yachting, boating, and marina pages you will see that the ad's are usually relevant with occasional realtor ads that have been purchased for those terms.

I was trying to figure out how to utilize it on our Real Estate site without having competitors advertised. You can block ads from certain url's, but it would be a large list to block. I do like your idea of using it on your state specific referral pages though. I might give that a try when I get a chance.

Your new site looks great. Glad REW is featuring it on their front page, that should pay dividends. Enjoyed the testimonials too. I know I will be getting a REW site some time in the future.

I forgot, on the CMS I am using for www.gulfshoreslife.com , the script can be put in a module and pages selected for that module to populate. Point being, you can add script one time and select the 50 state pages and it will be there automatically on all the pages. Quite a time saver. That is the beauty of CMS's. I am positive that would be the case with REW's CMS.
