I have linked, and linked and well linked some more, yet out of nowhere G deceided to kick me down from 198 some links to 38.... and many great links are not showing up while other w/PR0s are?... Can anyone explain? I know there is a lot of algo stuff changing for Pr but I am concerned about links I have had for a few months now that are still there but not showing up...
They aren't java script wrapped. (regular HTML link) They are cached in G. They have PR4-5 They don't have robots.txt blocking pages... I am lost.. is there any other reason why some of these just dont show up? ![]()

From our DC you are showing 27 backlinks
will the others spider OK? |

from what I can tell they should. I used a few "spiders" to see what they look like and it shows a link to my site... So...?

Googles BL list is incomplete, unreliable and inconsistent. About three updates ago they just started showing a random sample of back links with absolutely no standard. I stopped looking a couple updates ago.
I wouldn't be at all concerned as long as you've not seen a drop in SERP's, fresh dates or pages indexed.

Never thought of using either link command or TB to check for links in G

Rustin, I stole them...hehe.
![]() I had a similar problem after G stopped updating the toolbar. BLs to a couple of sites dropped by maybe 20-30%. After this last update, all sites gained links in the 30-40% range. COULD BE that they are sandboxing your new additions or maturing them before they give them back to you. As always, I would just keep on dong what you are doing. |

Is it reasonable to conclude, until such time as some firm relationship is established between what's showing as back links and what's really there, that the back link update and the link command in general are a total waste of time and energy?
