At the very top of most of my pages I have keywords like these
"Rehoboth Beach Mobile Homes | Lewes Beach Mobile Homes | Millsboro Mobile Homes | Pot Nets Mobile Homes" in grey text that is easily read by the human eye. I saw it on a PR6 site and thought if it worked for him I might try it. The same thing is on most of my pages like this one http://www.coastalmobile.com/listing...ermit-lane.htm I also name all of my photos things like 1234-main-street-joestown-usa.jpg and then I repeat that in my alt tags. Would google consider that spam or keyword overuse? The guys at http://www.googlecommunity.com seem to think the reason my site that was tops with google and now low is because I have violated a google law. If I did it certainly was not intentional. Can too much link exchange get you in trouble? I've got about 1200 links on my site but they are all real estate related and organized by category. Another http://www.googlecommunity.com user thinks I may have a link to a site that google does not like in my directory. With 1200 links I don't have a clue of how to find out which ones google likes and which ones it does not. My dilemma is that maybe something is just odd at google and will correct itself in a few days or a week or a month, but if not and it was something that I did, I could wait and wait and wait and never rank well again until I corrected the problem.

re: keywords at the top - it will not get you banned or penalized, but it takes away from the professionalism of your website.
As far as to much links - not really - you can get yourself sandboxed pretty heavily by adding like thousands of links per month (usually accomplished by buying sitewide text links on high page sites, which is not recommended) but in terms of link exchange. If over the years you accumulate thousands of links, good on ya! If they are all relevant and quality then google will do nothing but reward you. In terms of linking to bad sites - this certainly is a reality. If you link to a lot of bad neighborhoods, this can certainly adversly effect your search engine positioning. Quality control is in order when evaluating links - that way you dont ever have to go back and try to find the 5/1000 that you are linking to that you shouldnt be.
