Default Mixing Organic SEO and Pay Per Click Marketing

From SEO Book, great article for you PPC users.

SEO Question: What is the best way to determine what resources should be put into pay per click marketing versus organic SEO? SEO Answers: There are a near endless number of factors in determining how you should spend your marketing money online. The good thing about search is the implied intent while people are searching - which can lead to quick feedback on efficient accounts, but there are certain businesses that are hard to sell via search.

Doc;

Pretty much common sense that ain't so common!

I think the excerpt below from the article is the money quote...

"There is an appeal to the concept of retail without the risk, or turn key operations, but a business without risk is a business without growth or purpose. Even if things seem like they are churning along smoothly with pay per click marketing the players may change the rules of the game, and overnight many of the terms and techniques that were once exceptionally profitable are less so."

It ALWAYS pays to keep this in mind, whether we are doing Internet Marketing for ourselves as real estate folks or whether we are promoting clients' sites...

PPC looks like EASY money up front, but to dominate at it requires constant effort and changing strategies. I am currently doing a PPC campaign for a client of over 8,000 keyword phrases across the nation in a real estate related (although not real estate) field....Actually it is becoming every bit as challenging as SEO, with the exception that feedback is often immediate...

When internet marketing success is allocated by money and effort (PPC) instead of creativity and brains and effort (SEO). The one variable that is ALWAYS required is effort...

Great article, Doc...You are always bringing new things into the discussion.

BTW--I think there IS such a thing as a healthy mix of both forms of marketing on the web...

Cheers

Eric
