Smile Precise display of MLS listings on Google Earth

Hello,

We are going live with www.earthpoint.us, which displays MLS listings for the Boise, Idaho area. We feature roof-top accuracy and we draw the property lines. You can get a quick overview at www.earthpoint.us/introduction.aspx

Cool!

Where does the boundary overlay come from?

I think I want to buy 350 North Milwaukee for $67,500 if that boundary is good!

I think it's very cool , but I don't know how many people will use it because it seems rather difficult to figure out. Not many people are willing to download things, read, or follow any directions at all for that matter. If it's more work that just a click or two most people wont use it. :-( That of course is just my own opinion.

Pretty good observation. We have all of our point2 handshake listings mapable with Google Earth. I like it and am inclined to check things like that out, but I think that our prospects very seldom if ever use it. We have had numerous comments about our site, but never has the Google Earth feature been mentioned to us.

You might want to put in a back up offer on that 350 North Milwaukee property. I can see future toll roads and parking spaces to rent out as well as maybe half a mall!

I used to use overlays with agricultural yield monitors which had the GPS coordinates built in to the actual yield data. But when trying to add soil map and aerial photo overlays and getting them just right was a major pain. If Bill is putting these boundary overlays in himself and geo-referencing them, my hat is off to him.

We get the property boundaries from our county mapping files. Yes, the shopping mall is an interesting case. Sometimes for condos and for business in office buildings (or malls) the whole property is outlined. Depends how the property is recorded at the county. I put a warning on condos, but the business situation is rare enough, and obvious enough, that I don't have a caution on that yet.

Yes, it will be interesting to see if people use it or not. My hope is that at least a small percentage will!

Bill,

You posted almost the exact post in another thread. We prefer not to see duplicate posts. I love the idea and will look forward to seeing it develop!
