Clean code is good code
Know matter who builds your site, you or someone else, it makes sense to make sure your code validates. Checking for validation is a snap. What do you have to lose? With that said, does your markup validate? How about your Style Sheet? Last edited by ResaleBroker : 09-28-2004 at 11:54 AM. |

Also, if you want a quick check of html errors, browser compatibility issues, load time, and such check out NetMechanic.

Does your Robots.txt file validate?

For extra fun...
![]() With the FireFox browser you can download an extension called Html Validator (with Tidy) 0.2.5 and check your validation on the spot. Many have reported finding errors with this tool that did not show up with the W3C Markup Validation Service. WARNING: You might not like what you see. ![]() Last edited by ResaleBroker : 10-11-2004 at 05:37 PM. |

Thanks for the tip resalebroker. I am in the process of designing a look for my site. After that I will be working on validation. Good times, eh?

Does your RSS Feed Validate?

haha I have NEVER tried to validate my sites, although if I were an anal codemonkey I might. I personally care that the code works, not that it validates, besides when you start looking at multiple browsers and all sorts of other factors its hard to please everyone WAP anyone?
Point being its good for everyone to be aware of hte standards and try to follow them to the best of their ability but search engines understand not everyone has a web degree from web dev god university in fact I think they anticipate a lot more code error then most people give them 2.2 cents
