Makes sense but I dont think many people will use it because it is so out of the way, and not that explicit. What we do is have a special app that allows us to code as many anchor text variations as we want and them put them in a rotation, so that each person that views our code page is served a different set of html. Soemtimes I code in there random stuff for the anchor text, sometimes I use the domain name etc - end result of your and our efforts is to have the incoming text to appear more natural.

I think it is an important issue to address and think Morgan's solution is more sure fire as it doesn't require the linker to take the initiative.

I agree that not many, if any, will make up their own anchor text. When I think about it, I'll go to my recip pages and just change it up myself once in a while.

As well you should... I use the same solution that Morgan suggested and have about five variations of anchor text/descriptions in a small db and the page calls for a random record on page load.

No hassles for the user and it breaks it up nicely but with combinations that work for the page.
