I have been considering purchasing a REW website, however my main question is how long to get 1st page positioning on google, yahoo and msn if you guys so my seo.( Dallas Real Estate) is the main key word, without about 8 other close cities.

From what I know of Dallas and Texas the competition will be pretty steep although a search on page one doesn't show vigourous activity.

The normal factors such as technical quality, site size, site age (you can't do much about that) and inbound links all matter - and you have to work hard to have a page that's #1.

You may be better to focus on the smaller neighbourhoods. After all I don't believe that everyone would search for "dallas", they'd search for the little corner of Dallas that they have picked out. But I'm from a different real estate market so down here people select agents differently.

I'm from the same SEO market though and no real estate website will be successful by accident.

I am Morgan's Chicago client.

I have to tell you this.

#1 He is the best money can buy at what he does
#2 His websites and real estate search solutions are excellent
#3 You must be willing to stick with him for the long term (upto 9 months), You will not get far other wise (may be except for MSN (which is 15% appx. of the market). It has nothing to do with Morgan it is simply how yahoo and google works
#4 Get ready to write a lot of content

This takes dedication not only in terms of money but also self.

More of self than of money. Which is why some will excel and others won't. If you aren't willing to make the self/time investment, you will be spending lots of money. If you are willing to invest the time, use the tools, and be patient you will see the results. If you aren't generating leads now, you should have plenty of time to work on content. Dedicate an hour or so every day, you will reap dividends if you do.

Farcical SEO client...

I signed up with you two weeks ago and I'm still not number one in Google, Yahoo, MSN, or Ask.com! What are you going to do about that?

webmaster will become famous soon enough
Default Re: Website

FindCRE - I am the owner of REW and the reality is exactly as mert puts it. In terms of graphic design, I dont think anyone questions our ability.

In terms of search engine friendly coding, the website we provide is going to be lightyears ahead of the average designer, we use ultra slim coding techniques and advanced CSS for our sites. If you were to go to any forum seochat, webmasterworld, etc and ask how well the "code" is done in terms of helping with search engine rankings, you will find every SEO expert out there will say the same thing A+

So the point being is from a starting point perspective, you will have a better chance (Whether we do you SEO or you do) to rank well in search engines)

Now onto our SEO services - there are no tricks here, it's just hard work. What you pay us for, is our copywriting time, our link building and my personal time spent consulting with you about your website, or doing the onpage elements of your website.

Copywriting - follows all the proper conventions. Our copywriters are all amazing writers who are also trained in onpage SEO. They write content that is 100% unique (Avoids any dup content issues) mindful of keyword inclusion (Search engines need the phrases to be on your site in order to find the pages relevant and compelling from a real estate perspective)

Link building - we have a full time team of link builders all trained in best practices for SEO. We only exchange links with relevant websites (Agent sites, broker sites, directories etc) and we have over 500 hours of link building that goes into our clients effort per month. We also have a huge network of contacts in the real estate field because of our long running of this forum and other networks. Thus we have access to resources, link building forums, directories etc. Bottom line for link building, the links will be of great quality and in much higher volume than if you tried to do it yourself and without the danger of linking to bad neighborhoods or irrelevant sites that is inherent with trying to learn your own SEO.

My time - I spend time on every client site every month (Ether working on their site or consulting with the client). I do keyword research, work with the important header elements, modify copy provided by our copywriting team, consult with the link building team on anchor text objectives, spend time with the clients on the phone, MSN or email about their campaign (Planning overall strategy, or training the client so that they can contribute to their campaign as well, coming up with ideas to get more traffic etc)

So what it comes down to is we do all the right things in terms of SEO, however as Mert said, without client involvement the campaign will not be as effective as it could be. We need you to put the personal touches on your website (We dont know anything about you or the way you market, so how can we present it as such without your input) - fresh content - we write static pages based on research of your areas, and your keywords however there is only a maximum of copywriting hours per month available to a full service client - we try to get the clients to create their own pages as well, or write a blog post every day, or post in other blogs with link backs to their properties (I will teach you how to do all this) - but it still takes effort. (Mert, Bob and Marc are among my most apt clients when it comes to this.) For instance take Bob, we copywrote the onpage elements for all his major cities, and he is coming in behind us, and providing links to every little sub division or neighborhood (Most so small we cant even know they exist or find enough data to write on) - this way he provides a way better information base than we could alone, the pages are personal because they are written by Bob and he can link them to any properties he wants, drive his traffic to CMA pages or do anything else he wants to do. I can pretty much guarantee, Bob works on his website everyday (Whereas in terms of hours, I put in 8 per month) - in the end his site will have thousands of uniquely copywritten pages, written from the perspective of the realtor and present the tone, and personality necessary to instill confindence in the buyer or seller.

Anyways, im kind of blabbing, but I hope I have emphasized the amount of work that goes into a site. It is not just an REW effort alone, we give you the tools, support your effort, train you, and much much more, but there is a still a lot of work needed on your part, if you want to turn a good site, into a great site.

Oh yeah, and then there are the algo's - no matter who does the work, to land the big boy with a new site (Google) you are looking at 9-12 months to hit the first page for a major keyword term. That is just the reality of Google, noone can change that. However in the meantime, you will get traffic from smaller terms, and other engines, so it isnt like it is 9-12 months before you get leads. And it is important to realize that "dallas real estate" is an ego term. Its great to have, and will bring lots of traffic, but all the other terms "neighborhood real estate" "neighborhood mls" "neighborhood condos" lofts, homes, realtor agent etc etc etc will bring in more leads than the single term "dallas real estate" ever will. We know this from experience, and take it into account when creating your site.

If you have any specific questions please PM me as this is the google forum, not an REW presales forum, I would be happy to answer them.
