Talking Google and RSS feeds

The "G" spider likes real, unique, relevant content....Fact

He also likes new and updated content...Fact

Obviously "G" does not mind RSS feeds, but does the spider "like" them for new content purposes?

If so, would it not behoove you to subscribe to 10,000 RSS feeds? ( I am not going to)

Basically I was looking at adding some RSS feeds about the area, area real estate, real estate and financing in general, then I started finding good feeds from local news networks, national sports feeds dedicated to Memphis Tigers, or the Tn. Vol's, etc, etc.

To be honest I was looking more to supplying a nice informative web site for visitors. Especially ones not from around here that are needing or wanting to move here.

Can I add too many RSS feeds to the point that it hurts my "G" rating?

My plan was to have an "RSS-home-page with categories such as sports, real estate, area interests, area companies, jobs, etc. then they click the category "sports"; then there is a variety of sports articles, etc, etc.

Is this practical?
Would it help or hurt or neither?
Thanks for your time.

P.S.S.- I used that ispell software for a spell check and it works wonderfully.
Get it if you don't have it..

Sites that rely on RSS feeds are known as aggregators and they do do well, just search google a few times and you'll run into plenty.

I'd say they'd do better on the oddball queries.

I just purchased RSS Content Builderhttp://rsscontentbuilder.com/
after reading more about some positives of having some RSS content on web pages. There is a 2 minute demonstration video. I'm excited about it as I want unique and fresh content for some of my surrounding areas--you can even do it by keywords as far as the content.

The challenge will be uploading it to the server as I'm not comfortable with FTP but here goes....

If more realtors start using RSS feeds, maybe RSS feeds exchanges will makeup for the lessening of link exchanges. I publish a RSS feed of my latest 10 listing with new listings being added at least daily. (I have listings from multiple realtors so new listing are constantly added). This would provide new real estate related content to your site daily.

If anyone would like to add the feed to thier site, here is the address for the feed.
www.houseviewonline.com/rss/top10
(Note: Browsing to this link will only give you a bunch of HTML code. The link needs to be placed into a RSS reader on your site)

If you want to know what the feed looks like. Go to one of the yahoo, google, msn customizable pages. Use the "My Yahoo", "My Google" or "My MSM" button on my home page. (www.houseviewonline.com) The feed will be added as a newsgroup to the page. Use the settings to determine how many listings are displayed and if pictures are shown.

Looks good Neal. Great job. You should put this code on your homepage so people can subscribe easily.
Code:
<link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="RSS" href="http://www.houseviewonline.com/RSS/Top10/" />

Kyle,

Thanks. I added the code.

Are you using the RSS feed? If so, please let me know where. I would like to see what it looks like elsewhere.

Our sites are all blogs. We use feeds for weather and local news on realtor sites and our corporate site uses them to pull the recent articles on the home page.
