Default Keyword focus

You can see the keywords I am currently targeting in my signature. I am currently bouncing around in Google from #6 to #10 for “Breckenridge Real Estate” and from #8 to #14 for “Summit County Real Estate”. I am holding firm at #3 for “Summit County MLS” and am nowhere to be found for “Keystone Real Estate”.

I am inclined to keep working on “Breckenridge Real Estate”, and “Summit County Real Estate” until I am consistently in the top 5 or even 3 before I bother with “Keystone Real Estate”. What do people here think about making sure that you have solid top rankings on certain keywords before worrying about others?

What we do is go for main keyword usually until we hit number one, then switch over to the next competitve. You want to rank for as many keywords as possible, but if your on the first page and not really moving down, you may want to get a few for some of your other keywords as well. You want to be on the first page, most people will check out most sites on the first page of results, though few go beyond that.

Good advise Jason.

I went after Phoenix Real Estate with a vengance when I first built my site as it is the most searched term for our area. Especially since most out of towners do not know the other towns yet, they search for Phoenix homes for sale, and the like. Not something abstract like Rio Verde real estate. You would have to be a local or know one to know about Rio Verde.

Then, once I was placed well, I began to target other KW's.

Hope this helps.
