All the other search engines are driving hits to my other pages, too, but Google won't send anyone anywhere but my front page. What gives?

How long has this site been online? Google will often index the first page, then come back weeks or months later for the rest of the site.
A friend who was looking at it with me brought these unrelated problems to my attention: In Firefox 1.5.0.1 on XP. The Feature Listings box sits on top of the headshot, and what's worse, it doesn't show anything under the title. There's a 8 JavaScript errors, beginning with "Expected ':' but found '.' Declaration dropped," so hopefully, it's an easy-to-fix syntax error.

errors- how many people actually use firefox? I have always wondered what the site looks like with other browsers... I guess I need to log what my users are using so I can see how often its happening.
Thanks for your feedback! The front page has been indexed for about 4 months... "...if you leave a techie in charge of publishing company pages, it will, at best, look like a technical manual but more often than not, a catalogue of tasteless, meaningless, whiz-bang programming effects." -not bad for a techie, eh? It does have some work to do... ![]() Last edited by russellclaude; 04-10-2006 at 04:13 PM. |

Internet explorer, 75.63% Firefox 19.24%
Those are my stats for the last week, mind you, users here may be more conscious of firefox but is it worth losing a deal by not optimizing for both?

Firefox has a nifty javascript console which is a friend to all developers. Looks like you've come undone on a simple clause in the javascript.
Code:
document.getElementById('SSdesc').innerText=sDesc[ct];
![]() The page loads really slowly and that will be partly because there is so much on it. I recommend smaller pages with a single topic. Get the RSS feeds off it - have a separate page just for "news" or just do the headlines. If that's link vault or coop on the home page - get rid of it. They should only be on internal pages. And there shouldn't be directory links on your home page either. On the home page there are image tags such as Code:
<img src="../../dimages/white.gif" alt=" " width="3" height="96"/> Xenu tells me you have 21 pages on the site and of these 3 generated a server error. The next steps I would recommend to you include

Wow- thanks for the thorough feedback!
I re-did my site-map on Google... it shouldlike this one better, now. I will have to try loading Firefox- sounds like it will be useful for development. I need to get the RSS feed off there, I know... its been good while I didn'thave enough content on the site, but its probably time for it to go. Thanks, again! |

I see alot of javascripts on most "href" tags. try also to limit the # of outbound links on your main page..

You need to optimize fr both Firefox and IE, since firefox has grown by about 10% over the past 2 years. To me it seems as though it might be a serious contendor in about another year

Not sure what you fixed so far but I took a look at a couple of internal pages and noticed that you are not allowing Google to cache the page.
Here's an example: http://www.tiffanyharris.com/city1.asp HTTP/1.1 200 OK => Connection => close Date => Thu, 27 Apr 2006 15:20:43 GMT Server => Microsoft-IIS/6.0 Set-Cookie => ASPSESSIONIDASAQBCTB=PIBDBNFDGNINHKPCGNEOKJLC; path=/ MicrosoftOfficeWebServer => 5.0_Pub X-Powered-By => ASP.NET Content-Length => 28955 Content-Type => text/html Cache-control => private it's indexed but why don't you want it cached? If you throw enough roadblocks, then of course your site will have problems. My moto with seo is do everything that is recommended. Another thing I noticed is you have 112 url's on that page but only 53 were unique... this page showed up a lot http://www.tiffanyharris.com/searchmls.asp - 24 times
