Mike,
I am moving this to the IDX / MLS forum - In terms of National IDX I don't think that is possible - The reason being is the MLS boards are not united in the way the process or share data. Each Board acts as an independant, and don't share data.

Mike,
REMAX just launched our national IDX last month and it's pretty amazing, I must say. My clients are thrilled and the national advertising they are doing to drive buyers to REMAX.com is unprecedented. I don't know of a private company that does this but this is interesting reading. I'm glad I moved to REMAX! I think they've consistently been ahead of the curve where Real Estate and technology are concerned.

Irene - the Remax IDX is just remax listings right? So technically it is not national MLS data, but certainly a national IDX -

Mike - I would be scheptical of any company that says that can do this (With any appreciable listings) - Remax has the listings and the coverage so can pull it off but I doubt there are many other companies that could.

No, sir. It is a national MLS with all participating IDX brokers, irregardless of whether they are REMAX or not. It is presented on behalf of REMAX Brokers but they will showcase all participating IDX listing from MLS compliant sources. From what I've been told, it's the first of its kind. I believe Help-U-Sell has been using one for some time now but I don't believe their site gets nearly as much exposure as REMAX.com. Here is a portion of an ad released last year...."What does this mean for the consumer?
· Building a national network of IDX web sites on behalf of RE/MAX Brokers -- seamless to the consumer.
· Any property listing, whether it is a RE/MAX listing or not, can be reviewed at remax.com, while still being in compliance with IDX policies across the country.
· RE/MAX is and always has been cooperative within the industry, thus our Brokers can and will participate in reciprocal IDX programs at the local level – which means our RE/MAX listings will still display on many competitor web sites across the country.
· All listings will be accessible from one point, remax.com.
· Quicker response times to consumers.
· Better data, more sticky content – give the consumer what they are looking for and reasons to keep returning to remax.com – consumer retention."

Hope that clears that up.

Irene

Unfortunately, the IDX in Northern IL (Chicago & suburbs) is not very good. It has a small percentage of actual MLS listings because for some reason so many brokers have opted out. So the Remax information in our area would not give as many listings as my VOW would. Of course, I don't have the advertising revenue that Remax does - LOL!

I noticed that when I was looking for my clients moving out to Scott AFB. There were a TON in Troy but virtually none in O'Fallon. I suppose the brokers out there will only see the light when/if the market becomes more competitive. My guess is it's much more available in the larger metro areas.
