I'm getting about 150 a day on average. 20% of them are repeat visitors.I also see that 60% of initial visitors leave the site within the first 10 seconds. I wonder if that's normal or if there's something I need to do to improve retention rate.

6000 visitors/month

12% convert to "lead"

average visitor looks at 8-12 pages

30% leave my homepage immediately

Of those who stay:
40% spend less than 1 minute on site
14% spend 1-2 minutes
10% spend 5-10 minutes
8% spend 2-3 minutes
5% spend 10-15 minutes
3% spend 15-20 minutes
1% spend 2--25 minutes
1% spend 25-30 minutes

etc
etc

720 leads per month? How many sales does that translate into?

Two notes before I answer:

- I put "leads" in quotations because the 12% conversion is counting how many people complete a form on our site. Call it a lead... call it an inquiry... a lot of times you call it bogus crap... but quite often you call it a real lead =)

- We didn't hit 6000 visitors/month until last month. Our website in its current state (search engine placement, aggressive drip email follow up, aggressive phone follow up to leads with numbers, etc) wasn't in existence until early this year, so we are just starting to realize the results.

With those two notes in mind, the answer would be that for 2006 so far we have had 5 closed transactions and have another 5 currently pending that are a direct result of our site.

Also, we just started to (attempt to) track conversion in the following four ways:

Visitors to Registrations ("leads")
Registrations to Appointments
Appointments to Agreements (although I know not all markets do these)
Agreements to Sales

Stats I read recently* show "average" agents have this following conversion:

3.25% Visitors turn into Registrations
5% Registrations turn into Appointments
65% Appointments turn into Agreements
80% Agreements turn into Sales

And "mega" agents have the following conversion:

7% Visitors turn into Registrations
10% Registrations turn into Appointments
70% Appointments turn into Agreements
80% Agreements turn into Sales

So you can use that as a benchmark. Oh, and it should be tracked ongoing rather than month to month.

If the register give bogus info do you still count that as a registration?

Also, what drip email system do you use?

Yes for the most part. Our system weeds out duplicates and I manually remove the joes@aol.com when I come across them, but it would be too time consuming with the amount of data we pull in to remove all bogus stuff. Because of this, I think it will be very important for us to focus on our registration-to-appointment conversion.

We had our web guys build drip capibility into the backend of our site. I can create each piece/campaign exactly how I want it and tie certain campaigns to certain forms, etc. I borrowed some content from Gooder, Market Leader and Sharper Agent, and then mixed in some local pieces as well as some unbranded pieces designed to look like regular emails (these get the most response), and then added relevant links back to our site. It works well but could have better tracking. I can track click-through rates but not the open rate.

Does REW offer a drip email solution?

A source we use and love is available at www.constantcontact.com - it tracks your drips for you... bounces (all types), opens, click throughs, forwards, etc.
