Hello All,
I am new to the Forums and think they are just great. I have been reading many of the threads with interest and would like some advice as someone who is seriously considering a career in Residential Real Estate. As a newcomer, I am primarily interested in 1) Which agency will provide the best training/mentoring and 2) Which agency will provide the most opportunity for earning *some* commission off the bat. I have enough money to pay for living expenses for 6+ months and have had successful careers in, both, Software Development/Web Design and teaching. I plan on using my Web Design and SEO skills to jump start my career and hope to use the Internet as my primary means of generating listings and sales, at least initially. I have seen several members here attest to the fact that Keller Williams provides excellent training and support for new agents and there is one office location in my area (Central Jersey). However, the agency with the closest proximity to my home and the greatest ease of entry is Weichert. Weichert claims to have a comprehensive training program, but I would like some feedback from the memebers here regarding Weichert's training program and, ultimately, which agency would provide the highest percentage for the success of a new agent. Thanks! |

Where in Jersey are you?

Hello,
I am in Brick. There is a KW in Toms River (about a 15-20 minute drive for me) and there is a Weichert within 2 minutes of my home where I have made some initial contact. |

Even though there isn't a Weichert in my area I have heard of them, probably reading the NAR magazine. Interview with both, ask questions about training & earnings & take notes, if necessary (hopefully they'd have some kind of information package for you to take home).
Then compare both offerings and make your decision. There still isn't a KW in my area at this point in time (& I have no interest in opening one up. Never got my Broker's license & don't want to). If I were a new agent & there was one in the area I would certainly consider working there. Exit also interests me but I'm not sure about their training & there isn't a local one by me, either. I hate the name Exit, though. Best of luck in your decision.

Southwest Chicago Suburbs Real Estate is an affordable area with close access to downtown Chicago. Money Magazine says that Orland Park real estate is one of the best places to live in the U.S. Next door you can find Tinley Park homes for sale and get Orland Park amenities at a more affordable price. |

My suggestion is to speak to new agents in each office. Managers will all make their place sound the best, so go to someone in a similar situation as you.

Thanks you all. I think the best approach is to set up meetings with both and have a list of pertinent questions to ask. This is the approach I plan on taking.
