First off I don't claim to be an SEO expert. That said I've done ok for myself and my parent company has a site with little traffic.
I'd like to start off by linking them to a number of sites, getting them submitted to all the big search engines, getting them a site map together and publishing it to google and yahoo, cleaning up their text, adding keywords and anchor text etc.... I don't want to overcharge them but I certainly do not want to work for free either. Any suggestions on pricing for basic services? Please count me in on any link exchange that any of you are doing.

Its a simple formula, what do "you" think you are worth on an hourly basis for this type of service. Whatever that is, bill it per hour. Or if they want a package price, estimate how long you think it will take you, add 5 hours to cover your ass and then just multiply your hourly by your quote for final price

If you are still submitting to search engines and looking for any type of link exchange, I would learn a bit more before you start charging...
