Hey Guys,

We are just finishing up on the new San Diego Real Estate News Blog.

This being my first attempt I am looking at getting some input... PCDoc and anyone else who has been doing this for a while.

Give it to me straight.

Also I have been reading the posts in the other threads and would like some input on the different categories.

Another question I have is with wordpress, which pings, trackbacks, and Plugins do I need?

Are you looking at it in 800*600 ? I "think" that Bob specifically asked it to be wider when Phil was creating it (Correct me if i'm wrong Bob) and that we are aware of the width and it is intentional.

In Wordpress use Options->Permalinks to change the way posts URLs look so instead of ?p=3 it would read: /archives/www.northcountryluxuryhomes.com-launches-its-blog/ I use: Custom "/%year%/%monthnum%/%postname%/"

How would one post a comment? The Comments link is usually right under the post.

Uncheck your "uncategorized" category for that post. This is just my personal opinion, but I try to select the closest category(s) for each post (I realize this was an intro so I understand why you checked off so many). I never use the "uncategorized" section as to me it seems like a negative thing (the post has no real meaning or someone didn't take the time to properly categorize it). Again, just my feelings.

Be sure to use some graphics when you start posting more to break things up and give some visual interest.

Some people believe in showing all full posts on the main page, some "shrink" them all. I normally show the first three full posts and then shrink the rest of the 10 posts that show on my first page. See my Chicago Suburb Real Estate blog as an example. I actually show the first 4 posts as one is a listing right now. I never shrink my listings, but by shrinking some posts it will be quicker/easier for a viewer to scroll down to see if anything else interests them.

As far as shrinking the posts down, it looks like WP allows to either shrink or not. I don't see the option to have some as a full post and others as not?

I guess it depends on which WP version you have (my older one on my Cook County site allows me to use the original editor which has a "More" feature that I just click on wherever I want to break the post off). Not sure what the newer editor offers to do this.
