Exclamation Please review...

Right now, this real estate website is in French (PR4) and I want to redesign with adding an English version. I want to do this the right way... so that's why I'm asking for your reviews and hints.

I am waiting for your critics

Regards,

Pierre

Pierre,
Take a look at your site through the eyes of this Linux Viewer. The results will give you an idea of how the search engines view your page (s).

Your page load time is a bit high [199882 bytes]. It looks like most of it comes from the graphics you have on the page [162958 bytes ]. You might consider removing or at the least optimizing the larger files.

Jeff,
Is there an ideal page size or text-to-html ratio that I should shoot for. I currently have about 50k in non image files and 218k in image files for a total of 268k. One of my competitor sites (gitta.com) has a total of 667k and another (orlandohomemarketplace.com) has 451k. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Bennet

For human visitors, it's all about "Perceived" load time. If your visitor thinks your page takes too long to load then it probably does.

A general rule of thumb is "eight seconds on a 56Kbps connection." This is based on the idea that a visitor will only stare at a blank screen for so long before attention starts to lapse.

They key is to not have a "Blank" screen. Give the visitor something to look at while the rest of the page is loading.

My Internet connection speed is between 3.75 Mbps and 4.5 Mbps and your front page took a couple seconds to load on my end. I would perceive that as "slow."

There are so many ways to reduce the load time of a page that slow loading pages just isn't acceptable. But hey, that's just me.

Resale,
I visited NetMechanic and find it to be a great tool. Is fixing the validation errors as easy as one click as they state? How important is it in the SERPS to fix these?

I noticed your site has a very low page size at about 12k but also has very little in the way of images. I would love to get my site down that low but am afraid getting rid of all my images would take a lot away from the site and possibly hurt my conversion. Do you have any thoughts on this?

I have not used their service for fixing errors so I cannot say.

Bad code can get in the way "sometimes." Not often, but it does happen.

The ResaleBroker site is scaled down by design right now but even when I load the graphics the page size will be under 30k.

Images do not equal conversion but I know what you mean. I would imagine that if you took a look at your top competitors in Google you would find that they are not graphic heavy either.
