Default Any advice thespillzone.com

Hello, I am a marketing/web guy for this site. It is a real estate tool for the consumer. All free. I am not the actual programmer but he works for me. I layed out the storyboard and design for colors, etc... on site. I am looking more for cosmetic suggestions. Please note that it is just going this week to an editor for grammar, etc...

It opened to the general public on Friday. Already a thousand or so users hit it. That is because it had a mention in the Seattle times. However the real media release is not until next month. It will be featured across all networks. Probably millions will hit it next month. Tell me what you guys think and any suggestions? We are treating this month as a kind of beta on it, even though it is live to public.

Around a 100 broker/agents have already been on a private site of this for a month.

Thanks a lot.....

Guess I should have read the title... sorry about that.

Edit: Had a look, not real fond of the page elements hanging in white space, the oversized navigation tabs seem kinda cheesey and your page graphics are rather generic.

The colors were a bit much for me.

I prefer more calmer colors (is that a phrase?) with business related websites.
It looks so 'day-glo', little girly-ish (no offense meant).

But that's my personal preference of course.

Being able to find out what your home will be owrth in 3 years. They think they have the answer and that homeowners should put some stock into this. Try it out and see what you think.

I tried the tool.

The north, south, east, west neighborhood thing is EXTREMELY subjective.
(edit: I wonder how this works on Knob Hill, San Francisco - haha)
"Could not find your city/ZIP combination". Like I don't know it?

I plugged in everything as instructed.
Purchase price was $360,000.
Projected price in 3 years - $424,000.
Not good enough.
The CURRENT value is approximately $760,000.

Not to mention the fact that NOBODY knows what will happen in 3 years - maybe peak oil, and the total collapse of our economy.
The tool may be fun, but that's about it. Just a toy. IMHO.

Now, if I had I plugged in the optional "current value", I'm sure the projected price would have been much closer. In other words, I tell you the value, then you tell me the value back, plus some (arbitrary)%. Also, I don't know how you can factor in ZIP code, when you can't even match ZIP with city. 95062 is Santa Cruz, CA. And no difference in price between 3 bedrooms and 6 bedrooms? Huh? Needs work.

AND, I find far too much explaining going on in your privacy policy. Am I going to get spammed by you - snailmail and/or email - ASAP? This remains to be seen, and if indeed this is the case, it can negatively impact your user base, once word gets out. Is this why I am the first tester? Am I the clown? Were the others more wary of your possibly spammy intentions (lead generation)? We shall see.

It says "Enter estimated purchase price or current value"
So if you now the current value, did you try that number?
