Not an article of my creation but this question has been asked...
It has become popular for companies to create corporate blogs for promotional purposes. Blogging, for various reasons, just seems to facilitate "buzz." Strictly from a "mechanical" SEO perspective, though, does it make sense to house the blog in a subdomain — that is, blog.yourcompany.com, or a subdirectory — yourcompany.com/blog? http://www.seoegghead.com/blog/seo/b...blog-p105.html

I tend to agree with the article and this extends to other mediums as well, forums, guestbooks whatever. Notice this forum is not forum.realestatewebmasters.com it is realestatewebmasters.com/forum.php - that is on purpose

At SES this came up a few times with various panels. It was split about 50/50. For instance Laura Thieme of Bizresearch favored / while Greg Boser said he would take . over / anytime.
