Annie, QA AnalystWhat does a quality assurance analyst at REW do?
Quality assurance analysts at REW ensure the quality of a product by performing a combination of manual, automated, and regression tests throughout development of a product using the agile framework. If any issues are found or requirements are not met, then we report them in our issue tracking software (Jira) for the development team to address.

How does this benefit our clients?
This allows us to deliver a quality product to the clients by catching all the big bugs or issues before it reaches the client.

Additionally, having QA analysts testing the product during all iterations helps us find new problems that may not have been anticipated by the team or the product owner. For example, lots of UX design issues usually aren't as apparent until they are tested.

What is the most interesting part of your job?

The most interesting part of the job is collaborating with different teams on various projects, which gives me the opportunity to observe how others work and think. I often learn valuable new things! It's very cool to be able to be a part of a project from start to finish as I get to see how the product evolves and improves.

Why did you choose to work at REW?
Before I attended my first TechFest, I didn't know what REW was. As I made my rounds from booth to booth at TechFest, I was greeted by Tige Johnson who had represented the company there, and he gave a positive and professional impression.

Out of the many representatives I spoke to there, REW stood out to me the most because everyone seemed so professional and friendly. The idea of creating websites for real estate companies peaked my interest as well because I've always had some sort of interest with the real estate industry.

What really solidified my decision to work at REW was meeting with Christine. She reminded me a lot of my previous manager and mentor, and I saw a lot of the same qualities. What I've learned from my previous job is that having a great manager makes a huge difference in a work place.

What do you do on the weekends?
On weekends, when I'm not busy on my freelance business, projects, or school; I like to spend quality time with my closest family and friends.

Can you tell us a bit about your makeup artistry?
I started doing makeup professionally about 7 years ago, and I have loved doing it ever since. I originally went to makeup school because I was really interested in the fashion industry and making people look and feel beautiful. After I started taking prosthetics and special effects courses in my program, I developed an interest in doing gory and sci-fi looks. You can also say I like to make people look horrific, when requested, as well.

What's your favourite thing about living in Vancouver?

  1. Grouse Mountain
  2. Kitsilano Beach
  3. Downtown Vancouver (because it has great parks, restaurants, beaches, and shops)
