Career Spotlight: Marley McGregor

MarleyWhat would you say you do here?

I am a Customer Service Representative - I assist clients with questions about their site and help find alternative solutions when possible!

What's the most satisfying part of your job?

The most satisfying part of my job would either be when you find the answer to an unusual support ticket or when you get a client from "I don't get this" to "Oh - this is easy!"

What qualities do you think are important in a CSR?

Patience and an appreciation for puzzles! My favorite puzzle right now is:

Three guys go into a hotel. They want a room for the night. The man at the front desk says "For the three of you, one room for one night is $30."

They split the bill three ways, $10 each. They go on their way. Suddenly, the receptionist remembers it's not $30 for a room! It's only $25! Since she couldn't divide the $5 among 3 people, he decided to give $1 back to each of them (meaning they each put $9 into the room) and pocketed the rest.

If the three guys paid a total of $27 for the room, and the receptionist kept the leftover $2...

Where'd the extra $1 go?

What are you most known for as a CSR?

I think that I am most known for my long ticket messages to clients and my quirky vocabulary. Some of my favorite words are "dandy," "mosey," and "neat."

What are the top 3 highlights of working at REW?

My top 3 favorite things about working with at REW would be the opportunities I have to learn something new every day, the flexibility with my hours, and, most of all, the people I work with - I think they are pretty dandy!

How do you spend your time outside of work?

I have a new puppy that I am often playing with and training. Her name is Maggie and she is a 5-month-old Beagle. She is cute so I attached a picture of her:

What are your fave things about living in Nanaimo?

I love that Nanaimo feels like a small town in a lot of ways! I grew up in a smaller town, Sointula, of about 500 people, so at first Nanaimo felt like a big city, but after some time here it feels more and more like a small community.
