If you had any doubt before, it should be gone now: The Platform Wars Are Here

Last week Gary Keller announced that KW Command was ready for prime time and that Keller Williams had a clear advantage over the competition when it came to “end-to-end” platforms provided by franchise to brokers & agents. I was given a tour of the platform and it is clearly not ready for prime time yet. I was also not a big fan of the hyperbole and the way Gary Keller oversells his platform. Granted it’s coming along, and it is better than what they have now, but it certainly isn’t the best of breed (and it’s not done).

You can read my thoughts on Gary Keller and Command here

RE/MAX has announced that they are looking to release their Booj acquired platform in Q2

This past weekend, after much fanfare and 3 years of what seemed like a never ending circle of promises and delays, technology startup Keller Williams finally announced that they are launching their much hyped platform “KW Command”.....soon…..?

The actual date the public will see anything from Keller Williams is still unknown, but they’re close…..?

About Keller Williams: Keller Williams is a relatively new entry into the real estate technology space having announced their intentions to become a spin off of the wildly successful “Keller Williams Real Estate” which (at the time) had been the fastest growing real estate company by agent count in history.

Prior to their founder, Gary Keller’s bold announcement that “we are no longer a real estate

If there is one thing that I have learned in providing professional services these last 20 years, it's that setting expectations is everything.

If you do it right, your customers will hopefully appreciate and respect you. Even if they don’t like what they hear, they tend to appreciate the transparency and honesty.

If you don’t do it, or you get it wrong, your customers will be frustrated and upset.

Today, I’d like to talk about the future of Real Estate Webmasters' Professional Services agency, and make an attempt to set expectations for the coming 2019 calendar year.

My goal is to provide insight into changes and goals for our business, and assist customers in making choices with respect to how they engage with our Professional Services

So this month I decided to join our sales manager in a really fun sales contest against our entire sales team. You can read about the contest at this facebook post (please feel free to share).

As I've started to discuss projects (especially large custom projects or upgrades) the subject of the "queue" comes up. IE what is the wait time to get a project started / completed?

People are often surprised by the answer (and that is there is a pretty long waiting list) and someone today asked me to explain why.

Because part of my contest is social media; in the spirit of transparency and because I feel I will be able to reach the most people by putting in extra effort in more robust content that I can then share for the benefit of all, I've decided to write a

REW's newest campus buildingThat's right, today is Real Estate Webmasters' fourteenth birthday!

It has been yet another amazing year here at REW and, as I sit here on a plane bound for the T3 Summit, I have time to reflect on just how far we have come. More importantly, I get to feel the excitement of what I know is yet to come in our future!

Here are some of the highlights:

In the past year:

  • Launched the industry's first 360 photo / video-enabled virtual reality website
  • Launched REW Leads iOS and Android full platform
  • Signed and launched #1 Team according to REAL Trends
  • Largest RFP - 150 pages
  • Largest Enterprise Customer - 10,000 users
  • Largest Project - 25,000 development hours (I believe this to be the largest undertaking for a single project by any

For those of you who don't know, one of REW's smaller competitors in the enterprise space, Booj, has just recently been announced as acquired by RE/MAX.   I've actually known about this deal for quite a while, but I didn't want to publish as, honestly, the founder of Booj, Ido, is someone I actually think is a good guy and he deserves his exit.   Now that it's out there though, I think it's time to talk about it.   I mean, it's an obvious win for Real Estate Webmasters as we are their much larger competitor, and they have literally just sold a platform that was promised to be 100% market exclusive to independent brokerages (one per area) to the largest, most capable competitor they have.   It was their…

In one week, we will be launching the world's first website that offers a virtual reality feature set for both main page presentation and listings details pages. Truly, this is our biggest innovation in website design at REW ever and I am so excited!

My vision is this: You roll up on a listing presentation a few minutes early with a 360 / VR camera (relatively inexpensive under $1,000 for a good one)—before going in, you put down a tripod in a nice location, and you take a 360 degree photo or video.

You then upload the photo to your site using the brand new, fully responsive REW CRM along with other property details and hit save. Instantly, you have the listing added to your site and available to view even before you have landed it.

Now walk into the

Many folks are familiar with our "dedicated developer" program (and some are not) - but what most folks are NOT familiar with is many of the enhancements and processes we have adapted thanks to the addition of our REW Enterprise program. We have been building / testing this new platform for nearly 2 years now, and have seen tremendous improvements in both throughput and project quality. As such, we have decided it is time that we share this new, advanced project methodology with the larger population of REW customers, starting with the dedicated developer program.

Let's start with a quick overview of the new way: Agile Methodology

Project management: A project manager is now assigned to all major projects. This allows for a much needed single point

Are you a new to intermediate realtor / broker (or perhaps quite experienced but just late to the internet marketing game?) I'm writing this article for you.

Now most folks know REW (Real Estate Webmasters) for our super high end, custom projects and working with clients like Barbara Corcoran (Shark Tank) and Fredrik Eklund (Million Dollar Listing New York) as well as powering many of the top teams and franchises in the country.

This is what is known as our "elite / enterprise" category. And while it's true, the kinds of products and services that are used by this group is generally out of reach for those starting out with internet marketing our largest category of customer actually lives with another division of our company and that is what is

At Real Estate Webmasters Inc we have 3 Core Values:

Customer Success : Innovation : Always Be Awesome.

These values are critical to our mission and our culture.

Recently the management team has asked me to articulate and communicate these values for our staff for a new internal feedback tool we're working on.

While taking on innovation - I realized that, while the basic definition is easy to grasp - "real life" application of the value is not as apparent to those who are not closest to code.

So I decided to do provide a "non code" or non invention focused writeup on innovation inspired by a comment in "The Leadership Challenge" (Kouzes & Posner) which is what I happen to be reading here in the airport as I contemplate this post.
