One of the most valuable things you can do for your website is choose to put time and work into creating great content. This will help you position yourself as an expert, and build a brand that is trusted. The best thing about creating great content is that it’s the key to boosting your SEO rankings, lowering your bounce rate, and increasing your traffic and leads.

There are 6 main ingredients you need to cook up some Great Content.

Research

Original Content (in YOUR voice)

Strong Headlines

Supporting Images or Video

Good Editing

Call to Actions

I’m already ready to cook up my great content because I’ve picked my topic and done my research. It’s important to understand what you audience wants to know about, and to make sure you are delivering valuable and accurate information.

Next, I’m going to add a heaping measure of my own voice. Plain writing is best, and make sure you are using only original content, as plagiarized content can get your site buried in the SERPs, or worse, you can land in legal hot water.

Add 2 to 3 strong headlines. The headlines should be very simple, and feature your most important keywords. I just use them to break up the content in order to make it easy to read.

Get ready to spice it up. Add a pinch of supporting images and video. If you’re in the habit of using only text on your page, it’s time to mix it up! Google likes to see a mixture of content, from text to tables to images and more.

Only use photos you own, or licensed stock photos in your great content.

Now, it’s time to sweeten it up with some good editing. Look closely at what you’re creating and make sure it’s digestible. It’s best that your content is easy to read, clear, and accurate.

And perhaps the most important ingredient? Your call to action. Understand what action you want your readers to take, and then invite them to take it.

Add ONE simple and clear action to your content.

And voila! Here you have one beautiful piece of great content.
