Just finished the CRM zoom call with Morgan. I asked if it would be possible to allow consumers to subscribe to my blog. Morgan suggested I put this request on the Forum, so here it is!
Yes, I think that would be great
Great idea!
Some of my Blog posts are receiving upwards of 400,000 hits. Is there a way to monetize this with paid advertising using the REW platform?
Hey Jackie! What are you using to track your blogs performance? Just looking at the google search console or a tag?
Hi @kim.blanton! What would users expect when they subscribe to your blogs? Would they get notified when new posts are available through email or are you thinking of something else?
I think an email with a short summary of the most recent blog post and a link to the full article. Just something simple. Then, a way for me to know who has subscribed and receiving emails. Another nice feature would be to have a way to see on the backend, the number of people who have read a given post. Its available on the front end and users can see how many times its been read, but there is no way on the backend to track that info that I am aware of.
I see what you mean, I found this CTA on carlycarey.com that I think we could use as an example:
Then similar to how all forms have their corresponding group and are added to leads as they submit them, we could have a Subscribed to Blogs group which would make finding those leads easy.
I also like the blog stats suggestion, we could explore adding that on each individual blog post in the backend.
What are your thoughts on the CTA and grouping subscribed leads?
We have added this to our R&D Roadmap and will be exploring solutions for a future release! Thanks for bringing this up @kim.blanton and helping us improve our product!
I like the CTA as we could put this anywhere on the site on any page. We just need a way to have a way to use it in the BLOG section itself as I dont think CTA’s work there? Or, in the BLOG section, a simple SUBSCRIBE TO Kim’s BLOG Button
I understand what you mean, the CTA was just a reference to a simple capture form that would just use name and email, this form could be on the blog itself or opened by clicking a subscribe button like you mention. The subscribe button could just be a form-less action as well if the lead is already logged in to your website, so a one-click subscribed kind of thing!
Thanks for clarification. They should also be able to subscribe without having to register on the site.
How do you envision this part? If we don’t create lead records, you wouldn’t be able to find out who has subscribed to your blogs and if we don’t capture at least their email, how are we sending them the blog updates?
I was thinking that their name and email could be captured after they sign up and be available to me. If they are registered and then sign up thats a big plus as we have them already. I just dont want someone to back away if they see that they must register.
I see what you mean, yes we can definitely do that. Once they click subscribe or sign up we would ask for name and email and we would capture the lead that way – we wouldn’t redirect them to another page to register if that was your concern
EDIT: I was just thinking, we could simplify it even more and just capture their email. Then, in the CRM we could automatically name these leads Blog Subscriber (similar to how the seller form works in the quick search – leads are named Seller Lead if they skip the second form), this would make those leads even easier to find and would hopefully make them more likely to subscribe, thoughts?
I like that idea. My goal with the blog subscribers was more for an SEO advantage by having people read in their email and “click” to the website to read further, with lead capture being secondary. If they dont want to register at that time, I am fine with that. It makes my site user friendly and they will come back.
Hi Jackie, 400,000 hits is amazing! Congratulations! We don’t do ad placement support but there are definitely ways you can monetize that kind of traffic using other tools. Google AdSense is probably the easiest starting point, and I’ve also seen other people use platforms like pubCenter and Adsterra. Hope that points you in the right direction.
Hi guys, I wanted to share some R&D progress on this item!
We’re exploring adding this CTA at the bottom of each blog post – this will be an editable snippet to make it customizable:
The CTA will then open a simple capture form, which will also be an editable snippet (this opens up the possibility of adding phone number to the form if desired)
And finally, a “thank you” message – as with other thank you messages, we will also make this editable in the backend!
Leads submitting this form will be added to a Blog Subscriber group (the group name is yet to be defined) so that agents can easily filter them in the CRM and send them blog newsletters as desired.
What do you guys think? Please share your thoughts or suggestions
