Request for Improved Area/Neighborhood Hierarchy Structure

I recently approved development hours to restructure my website hierarchy, and after discussing it with my REW rep, I wanted to share feedback because I think this would benefit many brokerages on the platform.

Currently, neighborhoods can be assigned to areas, but there isn’t a true hierarchy structure like:

City → Area → Neighborhood

Example:

  • Austin
    • Central Austin
      • Zilker
      • Hyde Park
      • Mueller

This matters more now than ever for:

  • SEO
  • AI-driven search
  • internal linking
  • geographic relevance
  • user navigation

Search engines and AI systems are increasingly evaluating how content is connected contextually and geographically. A structured hierarchy helps establish stronger local authority and creates a cleaner experience for both users and search engines.

It also becomes extremely important as brokerages expand into multiple markets and build out:

  • city pages
  • area pages
  • neighborhood pages
  • ZIP/community pages

Having a native parent-child hierarchy system for geographic pages would help brokerages:

  • improve SEO structure
  • strengthen AI discoverability
  • create cleaner URLs and breadcrumbs
  • reduce custom development costs
  • scale local content more effectively

I’m investing in custom development because I believe this is important long term, but I think this functionality would be valuable platform-wide for modern real estate websites.
