Real Estate Tech and You

The search engine results page, or SERPs if you’re in the mood for some SEO jargon, quickly becomes a monotonous sea of blue links – green and black text. With so much going on, how does one stand out from the rabble? Your best bet for encouraging users to click through to your real estate website is a well-thought-out, engaging and eye-catching meta description. That’s the brief block of text that appears right under the blue title and link in search results. The catch is you have less than 230 characters to convince internet users that they should click on your businesses’ link, over the competition. So use them wisely. Real Estate Meta Description Tips Here are few general guidelines to get you started: Meta descriptions should be no longer…

In today's world of SEO, publishing valuable content on your site is the very foundation of SEO success. But not just any content will do; it needs to be valuable, informative, and enjoyable to read. Unfortunately, finding a reliable freelance writer with industry knowledge, local expertise, and great grammar chops can be like finding a needle in a haystack. If you've hired an SEO expert to help you take your site to the next level, you're going to need some top-notch content to complement their efforts. That being said, not all writers are created equal, and the time it takes your SEO specialist to fix…

Lead follow up is absolutely critical for landing new business and building relationships with potential clients. Yet, it's one of the biggest challenges real estate agents have. It takes some time to refine a follow-up system that works perfectly for you and your team, but we find there are a few common elements in every successful follow-up system: Step 1: Call Within 24 Hours The very first thing you need to do is call every single lead that registers on your site. These leads should be contacted as soon as they register, or--if they sign up at an inopportune time--within the first 24 hours. Keep calling every day or two until…

It's an exciting time for real estate technology, as we step into the world of virtual reality through 360 images and other VR experiences. As many of you know, our brand new VR website features 360 immersion, allowing your clients and website viewers to take a step into a listing or community, right from the comfort of home. While we recommend using a professional photographer for your 360 Home page images and property listing photos, a DIY solution can work well for impressing prospective clients during listing presentations, and is a great addition to your sales pitch. In order to bring property photos to life, realtors will need a 360 camera. 360 cameras take two or more images simultaneously, then automatically stitch them together to create a…

In one week, we will be launching the world's first website that offers a virtual reality feature set for both main page presentation and listings details pages. Truly, this is our biggest innovation in website design at REW ever and I am so excited!  My vision is this: You roll up on a listing presentation a few minutes early with a 360 / VR camera (relatively inexpensive under $1,000 for a good one)—before going in, you put down a tripod in a nice location, and you take a 360 degree photo or video. You then upload the photo to your site using the brand new, fully responsive REW CRM along with other property details and hit save. Instantly, you have the listing added to your site and available to view even before you have landed it. Now walk into the…

I've been thinking a lot about "big picture" SEO strategies, and how we can apply them to the real estate industry. To start, there's convincing evidence that page one content continues to get longer, yet each industry also has its own content trends. Over the past couple weeks, I ran an experiment to help determine a better content baseline for the real estate industry. I looked at page one results for "[city] real estate" for 22 major cities across the United States and Canada, and recorded the amount of content on each of the top results. This experiment gave me a better idea of what our clients' competition is doing, and helps set new content targets, based on the average number of words on top-performing pages. The result? 1,568 words. That's the…
